I just got into it BIGTIME....
with a few "people" at warrior talk.com. This seems like a forum that would attract the "warrior" type, not so. There are great people on the forum I'm sure but I saw where these few people were talking about how other MOS's should get the C.I.B.( i have 2, OP.JUST CAUSE_OP.DESERTSHIELD/STORM)These "few" were mouthing aboutbeing attached to an Infantry unit and how they should be allowed the C.I.B. They even said that the Army has designated "whole units of NON-Infantry to become an Infantry Unit, I find this hard to believe, I said that this"unit" would not have the Infantry skills to survive in Combat Action as Infantry. They would have no traing in the basic of Infantry tactics. They couldn't shoot move or communicate as an Infantry unit. The C.I/B, is only awarded to Infantry, Ranger, and S.F soldiers who have seen active GROUND COMBAT. They almost kicked me off the forum. I was getting out of hand and cursing and name calling, but I was pi$$ed! I just needed to get this off my chest to some fellow grunts, thanks for listening

DESERT SHIELD/STORM 3/502 101st Airborne Air Assault Division 1990-1991. I said I have 2 C.I.B.s not 1 C.I.B. second award. Research before you post a smarta$$ comment. |

I can see how you would be pissed. Thats like allowing all the regular Army to wear a beret! What a great ideal! *sarcasm*
But yeah, I agree, the CIB is only for, Infantry. |

Yeah i hear ya, that's bull$shit...the whole reason they began awarding the badge to start with was to instill a sense of pride in our MOS (the entire 11 and 18 series) back after WWII, because no one wanted to be infantry back then...

Re: I just got into it BIGTIME....
O.K. just a side note, and correct me if I'm wrong.
To get an EIB you must complete the EIB course at your designated duty station, I.E. Ft. Bragg. The only one's eligible to WEAR, not compete are the Infantry soldiers. To get a CIB, you do not have to have an EIB, but you must engage an enemy in groung combat serving (serving not BEING) as an Infantry man. I have completed the EIB course not once but twice at Ft. Bragg and both times it was mainly to show the batt commander and the SGM that the AF guys can hang as well. I did learn that the buffer spring assembly can fly real far on a cold day when your hands are numb. We have had a few guys awarded the CIB in Afghanistan. There are AF people getting the Combat Patch awarded to them in Iraq. My wife has one, and she is doing convoy stuff, but is under Army structure and guidance ..... so the AFI (Air Force Instruction) states that she can wear it as long as she is serving under that unit or becomes aligned under an ASOG (AF units that support the Army). The letter awarding her this is signed by a 3 star. Just my 2 cents. I can not get access to Army Pubs because you must be in the Army or "sponsored" to view them. What exactly does it say for CIB and EIB? I was also told that you can earn the CMB without completeing the EFMB course, is this trus as well? |

Not exactly, you must have an 11 series or 18 series MOS. The cook that is "volunteered" to help hold the line would not receive the CIB even if he was fighting right besides the grunts. |
