question about special forces
I posted a question under the special forces forum but it doesnt seem like a lot of people read those. In the mos 18x you have to go through basic, infantry, airborne, and the selection and q-course but i was wondering if i would be able to take leave after basic and infantray training. Or be able to do the home town recruiting thing. If you know please get back to me. Thanks
screenname for aim : God7452 i really need to find this out...thanks for your help |

Re: question about special forces
When he says doubtful, he really means: No way in hell. It's a straight shot. You might get lucky and graduate right before christmas exodus...that's not a good chance.
You go straight from Basic to Airborne hold, then you go to Airborne school, where upon graduation, you go to start the selection, or whatever it's called. My room-mate did that, he had a heat stroke, yada yada yada..the point is, you don't get leave between any of those normally, there are certain circumstances though. |

Re: question about special forces
Both my kids are 18x. I beleive the leave issue has to do with the start of your SOPC 1(special operations prepartory course). If there is a delay between graduation from airborn and Sopc, you may be able to get leave. You'll probably have to report in at Ft. Bragg first.

Re: question about special forces
No way in hell is correct.....no matter what you do after basic/ait its a straight shot....airborne, rip, sf.....no matter what you sign for its a one way ticket.
Rangers lead the way! |

Re: question about special forces
My youngest is in Robin Sage right now. Since he started the SF journey, he has had leave two times. By the way, he has been in the Army since the summer of 2003 and he will not complete SERE training until October of this year(thats if he makes it through Robin Sage and lanquage school). It's not like Ranger School. It's a very prolonged program.
Before you ask, he is on tract and hasn't been recycled etc. |

Re: question about special forces
With the type of training you are going to be doing, even if your offered the chance for leave your not going to want it. It will be hard for you to get back in to the rythem after you take leave. If it is a choice don't take leave until you have finished everything.
