I agree Ram. Seeing Gen. Bell (USAREUR CDR) wearing them on tv and then seeing a CSM wearing them around post was pretty different. Ultimately I have to refrain from speculating too much till I've actually had the chance to test them. WHat really gets me about them is that I don't think the desert boots are dark enough for areas with high vegetation. Not to mention the cost!! I think it's like, at least $80 for a set! highway robbery!

They've broght the cost down, according to the latest Army Times. 75$ a set. Still quite a bit higher than $58 for the BDUs.

And they've decided the name tapes and rank insignia will be on the same cammo pattern material as the rest of the uniform instead of the olive green duck they used to use. Looks much better.

The belt will be tan instaed of black. Apparently someone complained bout the belt not matching the shoes. :groannedt

I saw them down in DC and all practicality aside, I just didn't care for them much. I realle don't see how they are supposed to blend. But I guess someone who gets paid a lot more than me knows best.

I wear the new ACU's everyday...... I like the color, don't care too much for the material. However, they do "grow" on you after a while. The velcro is already falling apart and I have not been to OIF yet......(Soon) Overall they are okay, need a few improvements. Just like any new issue they are made cheaply in order to "field test".

They actually grow on you a little. Not bad after a while.
