Re: Humpin in the Boonies
Shit, I dunno, enough to issue a FRAGO to stop the op. I guess there was a shitload of rain, causing gov't vehicles to slide off the road, whatever. As my squad leader put it; "What are we, the French Army?"
It might have been another OPORD, but I think the FRAGO was issued just this morning. |

FYI, I was wet all last weekend from 8AM-9PM from rain all day. Cadets don't melt, they just bitch a lot... especially MSI's. E.S. |

Re: Humpin in the Boonies
you guys mix MS levels Scary? hmm, we mix 1s and 2s, but the 3s do their own thing to prep for camp. the 4s are usually running things with Cadre keeping watch. so what kind of FTX stories you guys got?

Re: Humpin in the Boonies
We run a very "progressive" program here. MSI's, II's and III's make up two PLTs (3 squads @ about 11 cadets each) for a company. III's run the company from SL's up. MSI's and II are usually TL's picked by III's. IV's run the BN staff and oversee all training events, with the cadre at the top correcting as necissary. MSI's and II's do all training events as MSIII's, so they actually have 3 years of experience at a fast paced level before reaching LDAC. This is our program's core competancy.
As far as FTX stories, I've done everything from taking a map and compass away from a land nav buddy my first time at night land nav because she: 1. Was in the class above me 2. Had only been in the woods at night one other time 3. Was completely freaked out, cold, had to pee every 15 min, etc etc etc I've been OPFOR on a lane with a SAW on an intersection of a road that was at the bottom of a hill. It's amazing what you can see from a little bunker. Man I just better stop while I'm ahead. I will say that I've flown on a helicopter at least twice a year while I've been in our program. E.S. |

Re: Humpin in the Boonies
I can tell you that at equipment issue all my shit was dumped on the ground whilst I picked it up...
Oh, the life of an MSI. But no more. Gentlemen, at the conclusion of next week I shall be a vaunted...MSII! I was at sunset salute tonight, and I was absolutely inspired and felt part of something bigger than myself. I think I'm liking this Army thing. |

Re: Humpin in the Boonies
There's nothing like the feeling of finishing your last MSIII leadership rotation...except maybe graduating from LDAC. Just wait until you get to my stage and you only have to salute one cadet and no one screws around with you. We had our awards ceremony Thursday. I ended up being placed as the BN S3 (as you can see under my name).

Re: Humpin in the Boonies
hmm...well this last FTX at Ft. Huachuca my squad on STX discovered about...16, 17 illegals just hanging out. I just got back from Yuma this weekend - we helped out an ANG MP unit with OPFOR. It was pretty good training, and they're pretty squared away. This is my last day of classes. I have one final to finish and then I'm done! I'm just glad I can rest. I could really get used to this no homework thing. lol.
