Pilots
How hard is the flight training in the air force to get into? I want to fly fighter planes, but probably so does 90% of the people that sign up for the air force. For college I want to take aviation so hopefully that will help me. What all do they look at? Are people just randomly selected or do only the USAFA grads get in?

Re: Pilots
Your performance determines your standing on what type of aircraft you get. Factors that weigh in are schooling, physical assement and things along those lines. Would the Air Force want a person that has a law degree flying a jet or cargo aircraft? Or do they want the guy that graduated Embry Riddle and has a degree somewhere in the field of mechanical engineering or something along those lines?
My commander in Korea had a degrees mechanical engineering and in nuclear physics (he earned his doctorate later). He was in great shape at 45+ years of age when I met him. When he graduated the academy he was able to choose what aircraft he would like to fly because he was at the top of his class. He choose F-4's which were bad ass at the time and later moved on to F-15's and A-10's. I can tell you this, it will not be easy. |
