What to do after high school

Hey, I am still in high school and I really would like to join the army and fly helicopter, but I don’t have a clue about what I should do once I get out of high school. Does anyone know a good path to follow to be able to fly helicopters? Thanks.

Tell your recruiter you want to be a Warrant Officer and fly...they may try to give you the run around becuase of the paperwork involved but you can do this straight out of highschool if you meet the minimum requirments...these are listed in one or two of the threads here in the aviation forums.

It may not be a bad idea to get some college under your belt first. Even if it's a 2 year degree from your local community college.

Having actual practice showing up on your own without someone having to manage you, learning to stay on task without having to be reminded daily and developing the disciplen to be where you're supposed to be every day even when no one's watching over your shoulder...and the actual book learning....

Also, if you manage to stay away from fluff classes and stick to math, sciences and engineering...and do well, then you know you can learn what ever it is the US Army has in store for you, school wise.

Thanks, i was planning on going to college any way. I was just curious if there was anything i could do to get ready during college so that I will have a better chance of flying when i complete college.
