91W going airborne
Hey everyone,
I'm going in the army as a 91W. I am planning on going to Jump School after my AIT. Can anyone tell me what the stats are for women going and actually making it through jump school?? Thanks |

I can't tell you any particular stats, but I can tell you that women have been successfully completing jump school since the 70's.

Just make sure you're able to comfortably run 5 miles and that you're body's able to handle falling down all day for 3 weeks. Beyond that, it's just a matter of being there and being herded around the training area.

Re: 91W going airborne
Airborne School is pretty much a joke. Any jumpmaster could teach you everything you need to know in a few hours. Make sure you get to the front of the line for the first PT test, they try and cut numbers at the begining so you stand a better chance if you are one of the first ones through. After that, just don't get into trouble. Stay at the front of the pack for the runs and don't give up if it starts to hurt. Don't freak out in the tower, it's safe just jump. and then fall out of the plane and bust your rear 5 times and it's over. Simple. Have fun!

Re: 91W going airborne
What he^ said and again, make sure you can run at least a 9 min pace for 5 miles comfortably. Remember, it's not natural to jump out of a perfectly good airplane so it's ok to be scared. Also remember, the majority of all place crashes happen during takeoff or landing... so if you jump, you improve your odds of surviving the flight by 50%!
