Is there anyone here who can fill me in on this unit? My understanding is that they are, or were at one time, an engineer unit geared toward air assault. Thank in advance.

Chuter, I think you may be referring to 51 Parachute Squadron, 23 Engineer Regiment. If so, 23 Eng (air assault) provides close and general engineer support to 16 Air Assault Brigade.
