Questions from a MCJROTC Cadet about Force Recon
As a Cadet in JROTC I hear a lot of rumors about how hard this MOS or that MOS is to obtain. I hear a lot about SEALS, Rangers, Army Special Forces, and Marine Force Recon. I figure this is the place to clear everything up. I'm sorry if these questions ound stupid, but I'd rather ask stupid questions and be informed, rather than commit to something while being misinformed.
1. Do you have to be in an 0311 platoon for one year before entering Recon school? 2. Do you have to have to enlist for another term to be in a Recon platoon? 3. Do you have to have perfect vision? 4. Is Force Recon a part of, or seperate from normal Recon? 5. If it is a part of, how is it decided who will be Force Recon? 6. If it is seperate from, What additional schooling must you have? 7. How competitive is it to get into Recon school? 8. Can you hold the MOS for the entire time you are in the Corps, or is it a rotating position? Thanks for any help you can offer. -Cole -"Tom Hanks" |

Re: Questions from a MCJROTC Cadet about Force Recon
It looks like you got most of your questions answered . One thing I would point out, if you are in Force Recon I believe you are still in the Marine Corp. If you are in the Seals, SF, Rangers or 160 Soar, you are technically under Special Operations which would affect the type of missions and funding you receive.
Good luck. |

Re: Questions from a MCJROTC Cadet about Force Recon
Thanks Dennis, but USMC is the route for me, SEALS, army sf, rangers, all that, doesn't matter because I'm not even in the Marine Corps yet I love the Corps.
