Pointman Morning Prayer
Thanks Roms for inviting us here. Each day my brother AJ posts a prayer at several sites including our own. We would like to introduce ourselves and welcome everyone to share here. Pointman is an international Christian ministry which has been in existance since 1984. Originally it was started by Vietnam Vets for Vietnam Vets but has expanded to include all vets from all wars and peacetime, and thier families. Our primary goal is to address the spiritual implications of PTSD. However we do have shelters for homeless vets and do stand downs and other activities such as conferences. All our services are free. We have over three hundred small groups world wide called Outposts.
Our plan is to post the daily prayer and a short message on Sunday. Thanks again Roms. Dana |

Re: Pointman Morning Prayer
Teach Me to Pray
My Lord, I know not what I ought to ask of Thee. Thou and Thou alone knowest my needs. Thou lovest me more than I am able to love Thee. O Father, grant unto me, Thy servant, all which I cannot ask. For a cross I dare not ask, nor for consolation; I dare only to stand in Thy presence. My heart is open to Thee. Thou seest my needs of which I myself am unaware. Behold and lift me up! In Thy presence I stand, awed and silenced by Thy will and Thy judgments, into which my mind cannot penetrate. To Thee I offer myself as a sacrifice. No other desire is mine but to fulfill Thy will. Teach me how to pray. Do Thyself pray within me. Amen. St. Philaret of Moscow |

Re: Pointman Morning Prayer
I am the Savior of all people, says the Lord. Whatever their troubles, I will answer their cry, and I will aways be their Lord.
Lord Jesus, we come before you this day mindful of all who work in our world. Many people strive to earn a just salary, to provide for their families and to share their resources with others who are in need. As people across the country take time this day to celebrate their joy in having a job we give you thanks for our jobs, our ministries and for the organizations who help those unemployed to find jobs. Amen. |

To the Lord belongs the earth and all that fills it. (Ps 24)
Lord Jesus, we come before you this day believing in your mercy. As we journey in this life, we are reminded of how much we are in need of your mercy and forgiveness. Help us to turn towards you when we have sinned and ask for your forgiveness and for your healing presence in our lives. Amen. |

Re: Pointman Morning Prayer
O Lord, you have given everything its place in the world, and no one can make it otherwise. For it is your creation, the heavens and the earth and the stars: you are the Lord of all.
God our creator, we come before you this day in praise and worship for the marvels of your creation. All of nature sings of your glory. May we always come before you in prayer, mindful of your greatness and to give praise and glory to the creation which you have blessed us with in our lives. Amen. |

Re: Pointman Morning Prayer
If you, O Lord, laid bare our guilt, who could endure it? But you are forgiving, God of Israel. (Ps 129)
Father in heaven, your hand guides our every move. We come before you this day in need of your guidance in our lives and ask you to give us the graces we need to live according to your word. As we walk this journey in life, may we always turn to you for guidance and may we always recognize your hand guiding us along the path. Amen. |

Guide Us in Our Work
Almighty God, who hast so linked our lives one with another that all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives: So guide us in the work we do, that we may do it not for self alone, but for the common good; and, as we seek a proper return for our own labor, make us mindful of the rightful aspirations of other workers, and arouse our concern for those who are out of work; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. |

Prayer to Live With Grace
May we discover through pain and torment, the strength to live with grace and humor. May we discover through doubt and anguish, the strength to live with dignity and holiness. May we discover through suffering and fear, the strength to move toward healing. May it come to pass that we be restored to health and to vigor. May Life grant us wellness of body, spirit, and mind. And if this cannot be so, may we find in this transformation and passage moments of meaning, opportunities for love and the deep and gracious calm that comes when we allow ourselves to move on. - Rabbi Rami M. Shapiro |

Let hearts rejoice who search for the Lord. Seek the Lord and his strength, seek always the face of the Lord. (Ps 104)
Praised be you, God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. There is no power for good which does not come from your covenant, and no promise to hope in, that your love has not offered. Strengthen our faith to accept your covenant and give us the love to carry out your command. Amen. |

Re: Pointman Morning Prayer
Do not abandon me, Lord. My God, do not go away from me! Hurry to help me, Lord, my Savior. (Ps 37)
God of compassion, we are in great need of your loving presence in our lives. In this hour of darkness, hear our prayers as we cry out to you in our pain, confusion and fear. We hunger for your wisdom to nourish us with strength and encourage as we struggle to make sense out of the tragedies which have befallen us on this date that will always be remembered. We thirst for the spring of life-giving waters, which purify and sanctify life as the pain and anguish are overwhelming. In your Son's earthly life, he gave us the Beatitudes to guide us along our journey. May we draw new life from the examples he gave of how to respond to life's situations and to focus our attention on the greater good of all. May we become prayerful people full of hope, peace and love. So the words, "A world at prayer is a world at peace", will echo true in all your people. Amen. |

Re: Pointman Morning Prayer
Let my prayer come before you, Lord: listen and answer me. (Ps 87)
Lord our God, we trust in your loving presence in our lives. As we live in an ever-changing world, our lives can be entangled in the chaos of moving too quickly. We are in need of your mercy in those times when we find ourselves caught in the spiral of chaos and negativity. We come before you with our prayers trusting in your response to our needs and desires. Amen. |

Prayer for a Summer Day
Long warm days... The pace of life slows... A time for picnics and rest in the shade... Lord, help me to rest a while in the cooling shade of your presence. Slow down my restless heart and fill me with gentle compassion for all your people. Amen. - Author Unknown |

Billy Graham's Prayer for the Nation
Our Father and Our God, we praise You for Your goodness to our nation, giving us blessings far beyond what we deserve. Yet we know all is not right with America. We deeply need a moral and spiritual renewal to help us meet the many problems we face. Convict us of sin. Help us to turn to You in repentance and faith. Set our feet on the path of Your righteousness and peace. We pray today for our nation's leaders. Give them the wisdom to know what is right, and the courage to do it. You have said, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." May this be a new era for America, as we humble ourselves and acknowledge You alone as our Savior and Lord. This we pray in Your holy name, Amen. - Billy Graham |

The Lord is kind and merciful. (Ps 103)
Lord Jesus, in these days that we are living, there is much sadness and fear in our world. Help us to turn towards you for strength and courage to bear the tragedies and sorrows that we are facing. Lord show us your mercy and love. (Ps 85)
Lord Jesus, we are aware of your love and mercy. Yet there are times when our interaction with others clouds our seeing your presence in our lives. In these moments, may we turn to you for encouragement so that we may always be aware of your loving mercy. Amen. |

Re: Pointman Morning Prayer
A Father's Prayer
This is the best dowry of hopes, wishes and prayers I would be able to offer: May God give you the grace of wit and wisdom to understand that rainbows are only the result of showers, dust, and hope. May you always have joy in the morning and trust in the evening and may your sorrows be short and without scars. May your lives have a spirit neither bent by belligerence nor broken by failure; may you simply love each other. May you share with each other spring flowers, dirty dishes, music, rain, death, mushrooms, a measure of boredom, strawberries, and God. May that God never make you immune to the wonderful afflictions of real love, making you instead farsighted to each other's faults, tongue-tied to criticism, and short of memory to petty hurts and slights. May God provide the confidence and serenity that comes only from the assurance of each other's fidelity and the tolerance, as years go by, of wrinkles and gray hairs, short tempers, curlers, and Monday mornings. May no one steal from you laughter at the top of the stairs or giggles and whispers in a dark room. May you keep a hunger for each other, the appetite to taste tomorrow, and deep knowledge of and devotion to your past, heritage and families. May you perpetuate trust, the radiation of vitality, kind answers to sharp questions and sharp humor to unkind attitudes. May your fights be fierce and short, and may each truce be warm and long and held in each other's arms before the sun comes up. May you walk with wise men, sing loud songs at late hours, share secrets, have healthy children, and provide smiles for lonesome strangers and prayers for those without hope. May you never forget small things; smiles, birthdays, holding hands, family, old friends, the neglected, and the simplicity of saying please and thank you. May you keep a warm, generous, and happy house where love is the insulation and God is present. May your children be friends of God's child, Jesus. May your union bring a smile to the face of the Holy Spirit and may he live in your pots and pans, in your hope and aspirations. - Author Unknown |

Re: Pointman Morning Prayer
The Lord speaks of peace to his holy people, to those who turn to him with all their heart. (Ps 84)
Lord, you are King of Heaven and Earth. Open our minds to hear your words, touch our lips to proclaim your words and open our hearts to feel your presence, so that we may be a faithful witness to your presence in our world. We pray that your graces will bring all humankind together in this world and that we will all be worthy to share a place in your Kingdom forever. Amen. |

Re: Pointman Morning Prayer
Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest, says the Lord. (Mt 11)
Lord God, this day we find ourselves rejoicing with the men and women who have gone before us as witnesses to the faith. Their witness to the faith gives us encouragement to walk our journey of faith in trust, humility and love. Help us, Lord, to remain faithful to your teachings and your ways and never let us stray from your path. Amen. |

Re: Pointman Morning Prayer
God Is Our Hope
God is our hope and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will we not fear, though the earth be moved, and though the hills be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof rage and swell, and though the mountains shake at the tempest of the same. There is a river, the streams whereof make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. - Psalms 46: 1-4 |
