How much time does a medic spend in the Field/military hospital ?
I want to be a field medic in the canadian military , and since my military is similar to the US military , I'm wondering how much time a medic spends in the field or in a military hospital ? , I want to be in the field , not in a n office all day.

It depends if your talking about a Medic attatched to a regular unit, or a Special Operations Medic/Corpsman.

I mean one attached to a combat unit, like marines or army.
What is a Spec Ops medic , someone attached to let's say for example a green berets or rangers unit ? |

Re: How much time does a medic spend in the Field/military hospital ?
Like SR-25 said, it depends on what type of unit you're assigned to. In the US Army medics can be assigned to a variety of units. They can be assigned to an Infantry unit (males only) and spend as much time in the field as the infantry unit does (some go to the field alot more than others, even units on the same base). Others are assigned to field hospital type units (Combat support hospitals, forward surgical teams, shock trauma teams, etc). Some of those units go to the field quite often, some only once or twice a year. Others are assigned to fixed hospital sites (a regular hospital that serves the base). Those people can work at the hospital and belong to other units, which means from time to time they get pulled from their hospital duties to have some field time, others are assigned to and work at the hospital.
Good luck getting what you want. Just remember when it comes to assignments, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. |
