Retirement record processing moves to Web
By Rod Hafemeister
Times staff writer SAN ANTONIO — Active duty retirement processing and duty record updates are moving out of the local military personnel flights and onto the Web. Effective Monday, retirement processing, including the pre-retirement checklist, move to the virtual MPF and the Air Force Contact Center at the Air Force Personnel Center, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. The duty history updates roll out May 30. Both changes were planned as part of the Phase I roll-out of Personnel Services Delivery Transformation on March 31, but they were delayed to ensure everything was ready, said Lt. Col. Lee Shick, chief of the PSD integration division at the Personnel Center. “We had nine processes that we targeted for 31 March,” he said. “We wanted to make sure that we tested each one of them and that they worked, that we had good documentation for the users of the system and that we had good training in place for the folks in the field.” Plans call for rolling out quarterly changes that move personnel functions from the MPFs to the Web and Contact Center, providing 24/7 access for airmen. Ultimately, MPFs should be focusing on those things that actually require face-to-face contact, such as ID cards, officials say. -Top |
