Does the ANG have SRT units?

I'm curious as to if the ANG MPs have SRT units like their active counterparts.

Kinda, but not exactly.. The ANG brigade where I live has an MP platoon with a designated marksman section, etc.. There is a base reaction team made up of ANG and AirNG MP types, in the unlikely event that something kooky happened on the base. I don't know what their training entails, but I'm fairly certain they mostly train to secure sensitive sites in the event of a security breach. Most NG MP's are field MP's, in that they train for convoy escorts, POW handling, stuff like that. They don't get involved in the policing business much the way a PMO would on an active base.

There is a NG MP unit here in North Carolina that does mostly Police Work, I think they have a SRT team. I have a friend in this unit and they train all the time. When they were in Iraq, they did alot of regular police work and raids on buildings and such.

Where those raids conducted by SRT or standard MPs?

I think they do alot of SRT training but I am not sure. I will ask my friend when I talk to him again.

My unit is just starting SRT. We will have 2 squads that are designated for SRT. So yes they do have them, but it depends on the specific MP unit. If you are joing ask the recruiter. They should know or can find out for you.

Do you know if the SRTs are active in Iraq?

SRT is more for garrison work. In combat it would be QRF - Quick Reaction Force. As an MP Company almost everyone acts as SRT.

I was thinking that since it's a SWAT type unit they would maybe be involved on raids on buildings or what not. I read in another post about combat MPs what exactly does that consist of?

SRT and SWAT are the same thing, although in Iraq raids are done in squad or even a platoon sized element.

Combat MP's are glorified infantrymen.

So what does being a combat MP consist of? Is it basically infantry?
