Re: MP School

I went to MP School in 1969 and it was 8 weeks then. The entire program has changed now. We have a couple of other MP's on this forum who should be able to help. 333MP is one of them, she hasn't been out of MP School very long and I am sure she can help.

Re: MP School

You can get your whole course overview that you will go through at Fort Leonard Wood at this site: http://www.wood.army.mil/usamps/default.htm There are 2 battalions there. Look over both of them, but they are basically the same. What you should expect is going to differ from battallion to drill sgt. The best advise I can give is that when you think you can't do anymore, suck it upand drive on because you can.

Re: MP School

Your worry shouldn't be what Battalion or Drill Sergeant you get but do you have the will to succeed regardless and be an assest to MP Corp not a issue.

Re: MP School

Army schools are made for you to succeed not fail. If you fail then you have earned a special honor. If you become an MP be an assest not an issue.

Re: MP School

Well, He asked what he should expect. Since I was split op I know that the training differs a little from battalion, to company, to platoon, to the ds of the day.

Re: MP School

Alas I am in the National Gaurd, and not Regular Army. Although having serious thoughts about going Active. My role as an MP in the Gaurd is one of Combat Support. Look at some of the previous posts to get an idea of what an MP does. I would rather not get redundent in the forum. If you have any more questions or are confused feel free to ask more questions. There are many MP's here who love to help. BTW just because I'm not active doesn't mean I can't answer your questions. i have many friends and resources to answer your questions.

Re: MP School

Instead of starting another thread I will expand on the original question. I am in the Guard, right now I changed units and they are artillery, they are currently deployed as MP's to Alaska. Because they are carried as an artillery unit i have to go to MOS'q for 13B. When they get back we are supposed to redesignate to an MP unit. What kind of fun am I going to have with the guard MOS'q school for MP, and how many phases are there? When the unit deployed they went to training for 28 days and were given the 31B MOS. As we are not even set up in the system, I would like to know from someone who has already gone through it this way or knows about the program tell me what you can. Thanks

Re: MP School

P.S. I forgot to mention that when I go to the school I will be an E-6. I have five MOS's now and I really hate getting more, I would just like to stay with one. These schools are getting repetative. The MP school is however the only one I have a real desire to go to. Thanks for the help you can geve me.

Re: MP School

Well to get MOS Q'd in the qaurd is 4 weeks. My fiance went to San Jose CA. It is all going to depend on where you go. The days will be long, you are basically putting 8 weeks of AIT into 4 weeks of MOSq. If you look at this site it will show you what MP's learn in AIT. Now shove that into 4 weeks. http://www.wood.army.mil/usamps/default.htm There

Re: MP School

No they haven't, but it is still the basic layout. I graduated AIT last October and that is the course I had.

Re: MP School

Something I experienced in AIT was we thought our drill sergeants would go a little easier on us, we got the exact opposite. Also keep in mind that like 333mp said training does differ from company to company. We never actually did a land nav course, I graduated 14 Feb 01. I didn't do hand to hand combat training because that happened to be the day some of us got selected to do kp. There was a lot of stuff we got rushed through or didn't do due to time constraints.

I have also heard they are making BCT and AIT both longer by a couple weeks each.
