Even Worse than Spam...1ST CAV DIV
Got this from a FRG member at Ft. Hood.
What will evil minds think up next? Subject: Beward of Fraudulent Casualty Notifications Speaking with the Chief of Staff from 1CD, we wanted to make sure that you were aware of the following incident that occurred in our footprint last night that has our FRGs and Command Groups concerned. In a nutshell, according to XXXXX, wife of SGT XXXXX from a unit in 1st CAV, an individual dressed in BDUs wearing SSG rank and a nametape _Lewis_ knocked on her door at approximately 0130 this morning. The individual was wearing a yellow CAV patch as opposed to the standard BDU patch, no unit crest on his beret and was approximately 6_2_, blondish hair and clean shaven. When she answered the door, the individual informed her that her husband had been killed in a training accident at NTC. Mrs. XXXXX, who has several years of army wife experience and working knowledge of what is _right_ was suspicious of the report and contacted the NCOIC at 1st CAV after having denied the individual access to her house and sent him on his way. He told her that her husband was not killed and is in fact fine at NTC. The unit already arranged a phone call between the SM and the spouse today to re-assure her, but it is the attempt at false notification that concerns us most now. All of our FRGs and Rear Dets have been notified of the incident and what our spouses should expect to see in the event of a real notification so that they may be savvy to know what right looks like (ie. There will be at least two individuals in all cases (CNO and Chaplain), they will both be in Class A_s as opposed to this individual who was in BDUs, and that notification occurs only between 0630 and 2200 not at 0130 in the morning etc.) Since the incident occurred at a private residence, a police report was filed to ask for their help in keeping an eye out for this individual or others like him. I wanted to make sure you were aware of this incident sir as I know there are other units across Fort Hood who may also be preyed upon with far worse outcomes possible. We are uncertain what this individual_s ultimate goals were but they could not have been good and but for the intelligent reaction of Mrs. XXXXX, it may have turned out much differently and worse. Please consider notifying your FRGs to be on the look out _ if we develop anything more specific through the Police on this guy, I will keep you informed. -Pat |

Man there are some whack jobs out there! Thank goodness she was an "experienced" Army wife, I hate to imagine what would have happened if she didnt know better or he tried it with one of these really young wives. I will forward this on to the wives of the two soldiers I've adopted out of Fort Hood.

WTF!!! We never had that kind of shit happening during Nam and that was a war everyone hated. For those who have access to mil spouses and significant others you may want to inform them that a single individual never makes that visit. It is always at least a Chaplain and a senior member of the chain of command, they always wear dress uniforms, and it is usually obvious why they are there. I had that duty once. My Commander, and the Chaplain were the required members, and they asked me along because I knew the guy and his wife. This wasn't during war time and she had just seen him ride away on his Honda (750 quad?) not more than an hour and a half earlier. She took one look at us and knew why we were there. Pass this on to all you know, so they will know or they can let others know.

Sounds suspiciously like a few rape cases we had at Drum while we were deployed. I hope they catch the fucking dirtbag. -JR |
