Regional Invite(State qualifier)
Today I had a race in Carson City. This was the race that determined who would get to go to the state championship and who would be done with their cross-country season. You need to get in the top 15 to get into the state championship. My freshman year my team qualified to go, I got 127th out of many runners with a time of 17:27. My sophomore year I managed to scrape 14th place at the regional, barely getting in as an individual. I got 87th place out of over 250 of Michigan's best runners with a time of 17:06. This year at regional I placed 10th with a time of 17:10. So now I am going to the state championship(the only one from Beaverton to qualify). The weather today was bad. It was 40 degrees and pouring rain. I ran well however, I even managed a 5:05 for my first mile. But the real question is, 'how well will I do in the state championship next weekend?' I am hoping to run a 16:52 or better and place in the top 30(state champions are the top 30). Wish me luck you guys!

Best luck! for those things where luck might apply (like getting tripped or stumbeling in a pothole)
Sounds like you've got yourself dialed in and you're no cherry to the process, so me saying you should relax and not stress up isnt needed. Btw, since you've got the run part of the PFT pretty much locked, how are you on the rest of that? (after your run season so it doesnt mess with your track training, I mean.) P.S. Pretty impressive run times, to me at least. I never was "a runner" no matter how hard I worked at it. -Mac |

Great news Garin! Your hard training is paying off. I can commiserate with you on the weather as those are the usual conditions for our XC season over here. Good luck with the state championships and we'll look forward to hearing how you get on.
