Need more posts from DI's
After having read dvldogcandidate's post about quotes from OCS I was nearly in tears. Movies like Full-Metal Jacket do a great job providing insight to the wonderful world of One-liners that DI's are capable of. I have to take my hat off to dvldogcandidate and his friends who took the initiative to keep these little treasures and dispense them here to the masses. Now the my only problem is that I have run out of funny quotes to read and would ask for others here on the boards to post any that they found particularly funny or remember from their days at P.I. S.D. or Quantico! Please.... I know that it wont be so funny while I'm there, but at least I can laugh about it now and, once I survive it, later. Thanks and I hope to read what ya'll throw down.

William - sometimes the toughest thing to do is not crack up when a DI or Sergeant Instructor is on a tear!

Yeah I've heard the same thing, yet my father and brother (also marines) have told me that it is not as funny while your there experinceing it. Yet they both agree that it is hilarious after the fact.

Re: Need more posts from DI's
Yeah, it's not always funny when they're firing off at you -- but when there tearing up the guy standing 10 feet in front of you across the squadbay, sometimes it can be tough. DIs can say some awsomely funny stuff, and candidates/recruits dish it out too.
I had one recruit spend the first two weeks at Parris Island crying almost continuously, muttering "I can't take it, I just can't take it..." When we finally got him calmed down enough to speak, the C.O. asked him "Can't take what?" He hesitated and said "I just can't take all the... all the... all the killing sir." The CO said "Son, if there's any killing going on here, I need to know about it. You show me where the bodies are, and if you see any more killing you run -- as fast as you can -- and find me. Understand?" We're all standing there trying not to bust a gut laughing as this kid goes: sniff "yes sir" sniff-sniff. He did, in fact, make it through the rest of boot camp and did pretty well. |
