Questions
Hi. I am new here, so I hope I don't do anything to make anyone mad. I was wanting to find out about something. Is it normal and usual for a person with a RIP contract to make it to RIP, only to be cut based upon where he is standing in a line. The person in question was told he passed APFT. Then he was cut along with just about everyone else not standing in the first three positions of each line. Exceptions were made for several people who did not pass APFT and one in particular will get a retest. Is this the usual way a class is determined? If he has a contract, doesn't that at least keep him at RIP until he fails a test? Can someone enlighten me?

Re: Questions
Hello,
Dealing with military contracts myself, I have read quite a few of them. You need to read the fine print and find out if any appendices exist that go along with the contract. Most times is that an appendix might include a statement of contractual guarantee if and only if certain guidelines are met. Otherwise if the contract was signed for a GUARANTEED position in RIP and no violations have occured against the contract, you can contest that with whomever is doing the processing. I hope this helps, be sure to read the fine print. LCpl Ulrich USMC |

Re: Questions
I'm not a Ranger, nor I have been to RIP. That being said, the contract guarantees you a chance to go through RIP(selection process for aspiring Rangers). After that, it is up to the cadre to decide if you meet the Ranger standards. If the individual is saying that he was cut b/c of where he was standing in line, there may be more to the story than he is letting on.
We have a couple of Rangers on this site, maybe they will give you a better answer. I'm sure though, there answer will be more blunt than mine. |

Re: Questions
I am not a Ranger, nor I have I been in the Army for that matter, but after 24 years in the Marine Corps my first reaction to "I got cut because I was standing in the wrong place in line" is that it is an excuse for not meeting the standards. There is more to this than someone is letting on.
