Intro!
Hey, The name is Tommy obviously!!!
I love long walks on the beach during sunsets with that special someone, I am also a sucker for romantic movies, diana steele novels, and LOVE tupperware parties with the crew!!!! I just enlisted as an 11B with the NY National Guard and will be serving with the 1/69th inf reg. I have a couple months before I will actually ship out to OSUT @ Benning so I have been browsing military websites just trying to gain some sort of insight and knowledge prior to leaving. So if anyone is in or has been in this unit I would love to speak with you regarding what to expect. I was going to join the marine reserves and just decided to go with the ARNG last minute due to a great recruiter I worked with in the NG and the idea of fighting along side fellow NYers is what really sold me.. I will take pride in my service for my country and state and will do my job to the best of my ability. this is my story.. ....and yes i am an alcaholic!! |

Re: Intro!
Hey Tommy,
Welcome to the forums and thank you for your service to our great country. The Fighting 69TH has a long and proud tradition of serving New York City and the nation since 1858. I know how you feel about wanting to serve along side fellow New Yorkers...it's about protecting the homeland as well as the "neighborhood". Best of luck to you...you and all in the Fighting 69TH make us very proud. -Pat |

Re: Intro!
Hello Tommy, welcome aboard from a fella New Yorker and former 11B ( 1968-1970), retired 51H40 Veteran. Best of luck to you. Since I'm an ole Veteran I had to look up OSUT, seen this around but never checked it out.
There is a tremendous amount of knowledge here within this forum, from ole Vets like to me younger ones scurrying around, and family members of our soldiers serving here and overseas. The Army has two different IET processes. The first process is where the recruit goes through basic training for nine weeks, and then goes to a separate school (called Advanced Individual Training, or "AIT") to learn their Army job. The second method (used mostly for combat jobs) is called One-Station-Unit-Training (or OSUT). This combines basic training and job training into one single course. Again the very best of luck to you |
