Passing SFAS
Currently I am in the process of signing up for the Army and I will be going special forces (18X), but I have one question that I want to see if someone could answer. Before I will be enlisting, I am going to graduate from college; however, I will be going in as an E-4. If I dont pass SFAS, will I be able to attend an Officer training school for the infantry?

Re: Passing SFAS
I don't know the answer to your question, but I've got two of my own:
1) Is your name Andrew James? We have the exact same initials. 2) Why is Army OCS so much longer than all the other services? |

Re: Passing SFAS
If you fail SFAS you become "needs of the army" and are subject to worldwide assignment.
OCS is non-branch specific, this means you cannot be guaranteed to branch Infantry. You will submit a wish list of branches of choice but be advised that Infantry Branch is highly competetive and the Army will make you an officer but will branch you according to its' needs. If you fail SFAS expect to wait a couple of years before you can put in a packet for OCS. |

Re: Passing SFAS
How can you go in as an E-4? Does colledge let you do that? Anyhows bro, according to what a lot of people on here have said it might be better to enlist in 11X or something like that. But hey, your choice, and good luck with whatever you do.

I do not concur..... just because someone earns a degree DOES NOT entitle them to enlist as an E-4 (dont agree?? too bad.). |

Re: Passing SFAS
I went into the Army as E-4 Spc. I was enlisted as 18X. Spec Forces recruit. Its possible, you have to test well and have education I believe... If you have any questions I will try to answer them....
