Boot Camp DVD
I recently bought Making Marines from the Discovery Channel store. It's a 3 dvd 2 1/2 hour special following a group of recruits through boot camp. Its really a great set and it seems to me to show the closest thing to how it really is without being there. If anybody else has it or has seen it let me know what you think.

Re: Boot Camp DVD
I saw it.. I thought it was extremely watered down, and I could almost feel the presence of some public relations officer behind the scenes, ensuring that the mothers of America didn't see anything that made them squeamish. It was a decent overview of the program, but it didn't come close to capturing the real deal.

Re: Boot Camp DVD
What are some things that you think they wouldnt show on t.v. in fright of scaring the parents out there? Just wondering what to expect. Are there any big things you think they missed in the DVD's?

Re: Boot Camp DVD
I'm not trying to imply anything is being hidden.. I'm just saying they went out of their way to make things look more touchy-feely, "coachy" than I remember them being. There was very little yelling or IT shown.

Re: Boot Camp DVD
If you want to know what its like you'll have to go. There is absolutely no way to realistically tell you how it is. No DVD can do that. I have seen it and it helps get a general sense of whats going on but its not what really happens. The best video out there is "Earning The Title" it was put out by the Corps in 1998. Its the closest you'll find.

Re: Boot Camp DVD
Most of you already know this but The videos, Such as the discovery Channel one where they showed the Marine Corps Training at Parris Island, Is far away from the real training. Most people base their facts off the videos. For example the discovery channel video shows the easy part of training. Most of the videos are wrong.
