For example, RVN vets as burned out drug addled homeless shelter dwelling losers and The Vietnam War as a war that could not be won.

Those mantras have been sung so loud and so constistantly by so many that it's accepted as gospel by most folk.

Sure there's some RVN vets that broke down after and fell apart but that is a small small minority. Statistically RVN vets as a subgroup have the highest rate of gainful long term employment and fewest incidents of legal troubles within their "age bracket"

and from the very mouths of the leadership of the NVG and the NVA there's twice they would have quit except for the gains that the communist party had made within the USA in generating resistance to the war. Once not long after Tet and once right after Line Backer. Tet destroyed the VC as an effective organization of the NVG, NVA and VC troika and Line Backer so thouroughly decimated the NVA that it caused serious panic in the NVG leadership.

You will never hear that tho because the very same folk that refused to admit that the Red People (forgot how to spell that frenchified khmer rough ) of Cambodia was NOT the grandest, bestest most proper and enlightened governance experiment of all times also dominates opinion of those times. Namely, Journalists and Univeristy Professors....what I like to refer to as the idiocracy.
