Amazing Issue With Target Stores; Everyone should read this!
I'm never shopping at these stores again and that's a promise. Fucking assholes, excuse my language.
Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association wrote. "Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our spring recognition event. We received the following reply from the local TARGET management: 'Veterans do not meet our area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education.' " So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and veterans in general do not meet their donation criteria, then something is really wrong at this TARGET store. We were not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance. As a follow-up, I E-mailed the TARGET U.S. corporate headquarters and their response was the same. That's their national policy. Then I looked into the company further. They will not allow the Marines to collect for 'Toys for Tots' at any of their stores. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would not allow families of employees who were called up for active duty to continue their insurance coverage while they were on military service. Then as I dig further, TARGET is a French-owned corporation. Now, I'm thinking again. If TARGET cannot support American Veterans, then why should my family and I support their stores by spending our hard earned American dollars and to have their profits sent to France. Without the American Vets, where would France be today?" Sincerely, Dick Forrey Veterans Helping Veterans -Jugganaut Joe Last edited by ArchAngel; 08-27-2005 at 08:39 PM.. |

Anyone know if snopes.com is trustworthy in their fact checking? I've seen em referenced but personally have no clue on their track record. Anyhoo, the link above is to a snopes entry debunking the Target story. -Mac |

Re: Amazing Issure With Target Stores; Everyone should read this!
Snopes has always seemed accurate for me.
I sensed this was fake. This is a form of a chain letter. Chain letters that say "Send this to ____ people in ___ minutes and you will have good luck, if not, then you WILL DIE!" tend not to be forwarded by most people, but something such as this, something that makes a person's blood boil, will usually get sent, over and over. When somebody reads something like this, they are too mad to think, "You know what, this sounds a little fishy." You read it and become angry, and you feel as though your friend must know this, so you forward it. Another example: Remember the Starbuck's e-mail? It is true that Target will not allow the Santa's with the bells sit in front of their store during the holiday season though. This made alot of people upset, but Target's policy is that there is "No Solicitation" at all. Yes, I know, the Santa's are not selling anything, but they are a nuisance. If you let the Santa's sit in front of your store, than you will have to let "EVERYBODY" from a charitable, non-profit organization sit in front of your store, and in return loose customers. Honestly, I do not want to be harrassed when going into a store, call me greedy if you like. Besides, my mom works at Target, and if this was true, well, I woudn't let her work there anymore! ![]() |

This is an "urban" legend that has been going around for a couple of years. Never happened.

Ah, ok, sorry for the mistake guys. Terb you got it right, the reason I posted it up here was because I was pissed off after reading it and thought I'd share it with you guys to see your reaction. Never once took notice of it being a fake, my fault
