Says that they go to Ranger school to train, but does this mean they earn the tab?

They will earn the tab of course, but not wear it on the Marine Corps Uniform.

nope, no badges, no pins...They rate the Army Jump Wings because they go through the school and are authroized to wear it.

I've known several Marines who will sew the Ranger tab on the inside of a pocket where it can't be seen, but is close to their heart.

The only breast insignia authorized for wear by enlisted Marines are the following: Basic Parachutist, Naval Parachutist, Enlisted Air Crew, Combat Air Crew, Scuba/Combatant Diver, and EOD. Only two may be worn at a time, regardless of how many of the above a Marine may rate to wear.

Marines sometimes attend other schools which award breast insignia upon graduation, such as Military Freefall and Pathfinder schools. Those insignias are not authorized. Marines who served in another branch of the military before and earned qualification badges or award badges may wear them if they are one of the ones I listed in the first paragraph. Combat Infantry/Combat Medic badges must be traded in for the Combat Action Ribbon. Expert Infantryman badges, Naval Warfare pins, etc will be noted in the Marines service record, but are not authorized for wear. Ranger, SF, Sapper, or any other tabs awarded for completion of training are not authorized for wear on a Marine uniform, regardless of whether the Marine earned the tab while serving in another branch or by completing the school as a Marine. Them's just the rules..

No offense to anyone intended but...I alwase thought of all that flash on some uniforms as dreams come true for enemy OOB info collectors. (OOB= Order of Battle - who's where and doing what within a military organization's structure)

Scare badges are fine but knowledge and your mind are the best weapons you will have.

the coolest "shiny" badges I ever seen were the Marine Rifle team shooting badges.

No offense taken.. We don't wear the pretty badges in the field though. No danger of the enemy learning anything they didn't already know by looking at our uniforms.

Unfortunatly alot of OOB is collected at or around bases. And, it's not USMC custom to be wearing all that stuff anyway. You wouldnt know a Marine engineer from a rifleman from a cook or what Div he was in or recently from when in cammies.
