1st Cav Patch on a Marine?
Saw two young guys in a restaurant today - one wearing non-digital Army cammies and the other wearing Marine BDU's. The one in the Army uniform had a pencil thin beard like a lot of young kids wear and the one in a Marine Uniform had an Army 1st Cavalry patch on his shoulder under the flag. Would a Marine ever legitimately be wearing this?
My first thought was "posers..." |

I agree.....can't find any reg that would allow for a service or unit patch on a Marine uniform post 1947. If that wasn't enough, the "pencil thin" beard woulda sealed it for me....

Not to long ago I read where the 1st Marine Divison gave a army 1st LT that was atached to them a reward and with it there was the1st Marine Div. patch from WW2. The army said that he can were the patch on his right arm. It was ok by US Army regs.

Re: 1st Cav Patch on a Marine?
I have been thinking about this for a few days. Given what I see out in town every day, it might simply be that they are two civilian in Utilities (BDUs for you Army folks) that they purchased at a surplus store somewhere. Not excusing it mind you, but happens all the time these days.

A Marine wearin Cammies in a restaurant? I always thought we weren't allowed to wear them off base unless your a recruiter. Sounds like a couple of wannabes.

Re: 1st Cav Patch on a Marine?
another thought, not that this serves to excuse them either, but perhaps they're either paintballers or airsofters...I'm not sure what the proper term for the participants of this activity are called.
