Presidential Security
I have a question. I have a friend who is in DEP and is signed up for Presidential Security. I was wondering if there was in fact such an MOS, or atleast can you have that MOS right off the bat/is it available as a primary MOS? I searched around did not see anything.
Thanks, Lamm |

Re: Presidential Security
A friend of mine went from Bootcamp to MP school and was selected from MP school to be on Pres Reagan's body guard. So, yeah, it can happen but I dont know if it's a specific MOS or something you can enlist for. I would doubt it is but could be wrong.
I'd ask but I've recently lost track of the guy. Sorry. And John, if you happen to read this, I still owe you a pizza and a couple pitchers of beer. -Mac |

Re: Presidential Security
I believe this are the White House Guards. They are detailed from the Ceremonial Marines at 8th and I. I do not believe it is a specific "A" Billet MOS, but there might be a "B" Billet MOS similar to MSG Duty. As to being assigned to the Duty as an enlistment enducement, I dont wouldn't think so.

Re: Presidential Security
A Sgt that was on MSG in my unit said he provided security for the vice president, so that's what they were probably talking about

Re: Presidential Security
The friend I was referring to had been an actual Presidential bodyguard. When the Pres would travel he and his detail accompanied him, armed and in civvies.
He has pictures of himself and the former Pres at the Reagan Ranch. -Mac |

Re: Presidential Security
I've done some more research and what I've come up with is this:
"The UW or YW program is a Security Forces job guarantee. This means you will be trained as an 03XX. You will complete recruit training, School of Infantry and Security Force training and then be assigned an 03XX MOS to provide security for Navy/MC interests. You will need to be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance and meet all of the other moral criteria for the assignment. The job guarantee does not guarantee you Marine Barracks 8&I! You may get that assignment or presidential security if vacancies exist. So, you are not guarantted anything beyond serving in a security force position. Assignment to security forces is generally a two-year assignment and will be your first assignment following training." I got that from here http://www.leatherneck.com/forums/ar...php/t-368.html What do y'all think? Thanks, Lamm |

Re: Presidential Security
Hooray for infantry pogues. I hate security forces bitches, aside from the last crop of dudes we got from 2nd FAST.
For the most part, they all show up to the fleet as corporals who know nothing about their jobs or real leadership. I appreciate their contributions like cancer patients appreciate their tumors. -Jim |
