Marine in Trouble in Montana? - How to Help?
Lcpl Travis Williams from 4th Recon was attached to 1st squad 3rd platoon Lima Co 3/25, the only surviving member of that squad. I spoke with some other families about him Tuesday night and all of us have lost contact with him. He lives in Montana. He has not answered his phone or responded to email in some time. He had invited me up there this spring when we talked last November. We are all really worried about him for obvious reasons.
Is there some agency that can track him down and check on him? We are in the dark but worried. I have no contact with his reserve unit - perhaps they are seeing that he is getting care - he's physically uninjured. Anybody here have any ideas? I think I have waited too long to try and figure something out here, but just thought maybe he needed time to himself. |

Re: Marine in Trouble in Montana? - How to Help?
John, the best outfit that I can think of is the Marine Corps League. With my local chapter here in VA we've reached out to a number of OIF/OEF veterans in WV and rural VA that needed someone to talk to.
Not knowing where he is in Montana, here is a link to the MCL detachments there: Montana Marine Corps League Detachments If you can get ahold of one of these detachments, whether they are near him or not, they can and will make the effort to reach out to him. It is a large part of what the MCL is doing these days. A lot of times it is easier for these young men to open up to a "stranger" who has been through the same type of thing and shares the common bond. Let me know if there is anything I can do or any phone calls I can make. |

John,
I've got a friend who is a moderator at the on-line group Montana Marine Moms. I've emailed her to ask for suggestions. They are a pretty determined group, and I've come to know that there isn't much they "can't do". I will let you know what I hear form her. -Pat |

Re: Marine in Trouble in Montana? - How to Help?
Thanks for the suggestions - I'm tracking them all down now, will let you know. When the other parents told me the same story - no contact - I got worried.
I don't know how a human being could be expected to "survive" this trauma. War pretty much sucks. Well, good news maybe. I called another father of a Marine from MT in the same squad. He was out of town, but his daughter told me Travis had been there 2 weeks ago for a memorial service and "seemed OK". I'll double check with Al on this (the dad). I think Travis is good at "faking it" and seeming OK - just like he did in the A&E special interview. I got some other folks checking into things as well, so maybe we'll get some confirmation and maybe reconnect with him at some point. Last edited by cincymarsdad; 05-25-2006 at 02:43 PM..
