Meeting Cincimarsdad and Sarah

We had a very nice lunch, a couple of beers and two hours of conversation. It was good to talk to talk to someone who had just come out of Boot Camp. It seems the more the Corps claim things change the more they stay the same. Sarah asked me a ton of questions about Duty Assignments and where I was stationed while I was in. I asked her a ton of questions about the current state of the Corps, what she was doing for training and what her plans were. She is a very bright young lady and is going to do well I think. Seems she has already decided to make a career out of it.

John and I talked about Chris for a few minutes toward the end and Sarah had the insight to just let us talk about the people we have lost to combat. John's eyes teared up a little when he talked about Chris, yet he looked right at Sarah and said that his daughters were helping ease the situation. It was a fun afternoon and at the same time very moving. It takes a good man to raise good children to adulthood and they are examples of both.

John had a couple of Pictures taken of the three of us just as we were leaving the Restaurant and has promised to post them when he gets home.

I guess it would be kind of neat to meet other people from the site like you did. It would be kind of cool to meet some veterans I would think.

She had a few complaints about the "Stumps". No student cars allowed, restricted liberty. I asked her if the students had "Cinderella Liberty".....she didnt know what it was. I told her when I was in "A" School we had to be in the Barracks by Midnight Sun-Thurs night, she stared at me still not understanding. I asked her what time Cinderella had to be home from the Ball, then she got it. I guess some things really do change <sigh>
