Re: Back
A boot for the next year? Shit you're a boot for longer in my unit. I am a Cpl and some of the older Cpls say I am still a boot cuz I have been in for a little over 2 years only. I guess you're still a boot untill you are almost out or have done 2 deployments.

The only reason I wore them was because the idea of spending any part of my twice monthly beer ration on another pair of foot covers just made no sense at all. -Mac |

Re: Back
You know, I bought a pair of Mephisto sandals last year when I got back from Iraq that have turned out to be one of the best investments I've ever made - I normally just wore a pair of running shoes with my civies before that. My feet and legs in general have been so much healthier since I bought them that I can hardly believe it. The feet need a break from the boots every once in awhile.
Of course, they don't have a strap that goes over the ankle, so apparently regulations consider them "shower shoes" and not authorized for civilian attire (they are not flip flops, though). -Jim |

Re: Back
Yeah some rules are pretty stupid like the one about your shirt having a slit on the sides. If the back side of the slit is a bit longer you need to tuck it in. It didn't really affect me before but over here in Japan they are pretty anal about that.
