thank all the troops who fought or are fighting in the Mideast
I just saw a documentary on 9/11.
I want to thank all the troops who fought or are fighting in the Mideast. Every one of those Islamic maggots you kill is one less to get a nuke and come here. I am convinced that if they had a WMD, they would use it and the Ragheads back home would again dance in the street. Thank you all Karl |

Amen to that Karl. I fight with myself everyday wishing I was back in the Corps, and over in the sandbox with the rest of the guys.

Well it's official my unit will be heading over to Iraq sometime at the end of 07. But there is a possibility that we might go on the Aircraft Carrier CVN 75 USS Harry S. Truman. But I think they will be heading over there to so I'll be doing my part over there. But I would rather be in Iraq though and get some.

Don't lose sight that it is terrorists who have hijacked the Islamic faith as a excuse to maim and kill women and children. The UK Forces have many Service men of the Islamic faith serving in their ranks and no doubt that is also the case in regards to the US Forces.. In fact the British Army has suffered it's first Islamic KIA.

Yet, we did not let that allow us to lose sight of the fact that we were at war with Germany. I recall vids of Islamics dancing in the street after 9/11. Win the war then separate the sheep from the Goats. karl |

Re: thank all the troops who fought or are fighting in the Mideast
Ya'll clean this mess up in less than four years, please?
Mebbe I should run for Pres. It would be "interesting" at minimum. Every President should be required to have an 0311 Marine son. It would help sharpen his perspective. Were I in charge, we wouldn't go to war. But if we did, it would be bad. Bad for "them". I might get impeached, but screw it - I believe one Marine's life is worth some ROE latitude. Don't go to war, but if you do, go to WAR - Sherman style. |

Re: thank all the troops who fought or are fighting in the Mideast
Sherman was one of the greatest humanitarians war has ever seen. He ended the bloodiest war in American history while killing virtually no one, while Grant and Lee were busy slaughtering the flower of American youth in strategically ambiguous and indecisive campaigns further north.
But when someone wants to drop the gloves, relax ROEs and kill more people, they inevitably bring up Sherman. Wonder why? -Jim |

Re: thank all the troops who fought or are fighting in the Mideast
Sherman was the opposite of the current "hearts and minds" strategy. The reason he was so hated by the South wasn't necessarily that he was the bloodiest General (he arranged safe passage for all civilians during the siege of Atlanta, for example), but that his policy was to destroy everything that could aid his enemy - his famous "march to the sea" was a 60 mile wide whirlwind that left devastation in its path. Maybe he didn't kill as many as other northern generals, but he sure made life generally miserable for the people. The closest modern example might be Israel's policy of levelling Palestinian towns that harbor terrorists.
"Sherman style" war, however, was pretty much standard policy in WWII - the whole point was to destroy the infrastructure of Germany until they capitulated. Hard to use that policy in Iraq, where the infrastructure is already in shambles... |
