If this is AF thinking, thank God I was a Marine.
Test nonlethal weapons on U.S. citizens, official says
By LOLITA C. BALDOR Associated Press WASHINGTON - Nonlethal weapons such as high-power microwave devices should be used on American citizens in crowd-control situations before they are used on the battlefield, the Air Force secretary said Tuesday. Domestic use would make it easier to avoid questions in the international community over any possible safety concerns, said Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne. "If we're not willing to use it here against our fellow citizens, then we should not be willing to use it in a wartime situation," said Wynne. "(Because) if I hit somebody with a nonlethal weapon and they claim that it injured them in a way that was not intended, I think that I would be vilified in the world press." Can you believe this??? Hasn't anyone told this idiot that there is a difference between peace and war????? karl I KNOW the Corps can be strange and screwed up from time to time, but NOTHING like this. Thank God we did not join the AF. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...e/4182615.html |

^ I saw that in the paper the other day... I think he may have a point, perhaps we should try them out on a joint session of congress first, perhaps while the Sec AF is testifying! The international community certainly wouldn't complain if we've shown that we're willing to use it on out politicians first.

I saw where the UN or someone was trying to ban the usse of CS for crowd control, the stuff in those little huts Marine recruits experience in high concentrations.
Clearly, you can do things to Marine recruits you can't do to other people, even enemies. |

No mercy for rioters, regardless of nationality. I wouldn't say we shouldn't use it against our enemies first, but I'd have no problem blasting a crowd of idiot sports fans that were overturning cars and such.

Panzerman.
The fact that any official of the USG, that any American would sooner test ANY weapon on the people of the USA in order to protect himself from being " vilified in the world press." The fact that any American offical could even THINK of it is enough justify having the maggot removed from office. That is the same sort of thinking that won't let you call in arty or air when you need it. It might not look good on the evening news. The more I think about it and the fact that there was no national outcry, makes me think I am living in an asylum and the inmates are running it, karl |

I agree that the stipulation that we use a weapon intended to be used on the "battlefield" on our own citizens first is madness...but this is a politician we're talking about.

Test it on our own people rather than the enemy? C'mon that just doesn't make sense at all. What if it doesn't turn out the way they want it and they actually kill an American? I'd rather see the enemy dead than a fellow American.

Well, you know, according to the ethics of our New Age Society, we arent actually supposed to harm our enemy. That's what makes us stronger.
We're not supposed to think mean thoughts about them either. That's what makes us better. If we go around risking the cause of injury to our enemy, they'll say mean things about us. We cant hold the Moral High Ground if our enemy says mean things about us. -Mac |

You're using that reverse psychology again, aren't you Grimmy?
The only American thing we should test these weapons on is Goats. |

Re: If this is AF thinking, thank God I was a Marine.
When the hell did they cry about goats getting hurt? That makes me think, if you can't test it on animals because they will say it's cruelty to animals, and you can't test it on the enemy because it's bad according the everyone else in the world then who are we supposed to test our weapons on? Oh yeah that's right ourselves
