Drinking age changed in Marine Forces Pacific
So it's official the Commanding Gen or Marine Forces Japan has changed the drinking age from 21 to 20. It's about time they go back to the old days when you can drink at the age of the country that you are in. You know what that means, Cpl Spongejuan (who just turned 20 2 weeks ago) is going to buy some motivated alcohol at the 7-day store muwahahahaha

A jackass 20 year old from my platoon is in PMO custody for assaulting an officer 5 hours into our first night of liberty since the new rule took effect.
Yay, great idea. Naturally, we'll be punished as a group for this, too. -Jim |

Damn your unit sucks at staying out of trouble. Ever since our SgtMaj had a talk with the Enlisted Marines about "staying out of trouble or I'll have to take care of it" kinda stopped all the crazy shit.

Re: Drinking age changed in Marine Forces Pacific
I didn't realize the drinking age over there was ever raised.. When I was on Oki you could buy/consume beer on base at 18, hard alcohol at 20.. You know, because there's SUCH a huge difference.. Off base, no holds barred.

Re: Drinking age changed in Marine Forces Pacific
Well they passed it a while back that in the Corps you had to be 21 to drink no matter what. I guess they realized that they were not going to stop Marines from buying alcohol out in town and wanted to see how good we'd do. Our unit has done a good job. Haven't had anybody on the blotter since Iwakuni.
