Pi Star Reserve & Retired: Volunteer for Duty

Volunteer for Duty

Who: We need Marines to volunteer that are currently in the IRR, IMA, or have retired within the last 5 years. SMCR Marines need to submit requests via their chain of command to MARFORRES.

What: You will be activated in support of the Global War On Terror (GWOT).

When: The needs of the Marine Corps change continually as the missions change. In turn, we continually match available Marines to those needs. Your skill sets, grade, and other factors will determine the timeline in which you can be activated.

Where: An example of the types of assignments are joint commands serving in the various AORs, augmenting deploying units in order to get them to their proper manning strength, and Deployment Processing Centers.

Why: The Total Force concept includes a large presence from the Marine Corps Reserve. SMCR unit personnel are identified, but support from the other components of the USMCR rely heavily on a volunteer basis.

How: Fill out a Reserve Qualification Summary (RQS). The link for this document can be found toward the bottom right of this page under the forms section. Once completed, send this form to the following e-mail address: smb_manpower_mpp-60@usmc.mil and we'll begin the process to match you to an open billet. Ensure good contact information is in the form so that we can contact you when a match is identified.

Want To Augment Back To Active Duty?

Enlisted Marines that want to augment back to active duty need to refer to MCO 1130.80A and see a recruiter. If you send an e-mail to the e-mail address above, we will be unable to assist you.
