Marine ROTC Officer Training Question.
This has been bugging me and I really don't want to wait until later to ask someone, but I'm curious if Marine ROTC Candidates go through the same 13 weeks of Boot Camp that all enlistments go through. Is it a straight shot of 13 weeks, like during a Summer, or is it split up in like 4 week segments over the course of their student career at the designated university and then they graduate from basic?
Thanks. |

Re: Marine ROTC Officer Training Question.
Marine option Naval ROTC Cadets will spend a summer in a "bulldog" class at OCS. Boot Camp is not part of Officer Candidate School. It is a lot closer to PLC or OCC than it is to Boot Camp.

Re: Marine ROTC Officer Training Question.
Could someone explain to me what Marine ROTC is? I know it falls under NROTC, but what do you do, when do you do it, etc? Also, can someone explain how it is different from PLC?
Thanks. Lamm |

Re: Marine ROTC Officer Training Question.
You are in a NROTC unit, but you train as a devil-dog. If you look at an NROTC unit there staff is about half Navy and half Marine Corps. So when you stand inspection you get inspected by DI’s, but so do the Navy cadets. When you go PT, you do it Marine Corps style, with your instructor (a Marine) leading you. You take the same classes as the Navy recruits, but the training is different because you are supervised by the MI’s. Did I answer your question?
