Airline thanks military personnel by extending travel on special fares

Airline thanks military personnel by extending travel on special fares

FORT WORTH, Texas --In recognition of the courageous efforts of U.S. military personnel, American Airlines today announced the continuation of several special offers, including discounted fares, Admirals Club® access and Group One Boarding privileges, exclusively for active-duty members of the military.

"We appreciate the continued sacrifices made by our servicemen and women, and their families," said Dan Garton, American's Executive Vice President-Marketing. "By extending these special offers, we hope to make it easier for military families to get together with their loved ones."

American Airlines is now allowing travel on these special fares through Jan. 31, 2005. Active-duty members of the U.S. Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, National Guard, and Reserves who are on leave or furlough (including those who are traveling within seven days of discharge from active service), and their spouse and dependent children are eligible for these fares. Special military fares also are available for travel to various international destinations.

Reservations can be made at American Airlines ticketing locations or by calling American Airlines reservations toll-free at 800-433-7300. Military ID must be presented at the time of airport check-in. These military fares are not available via the Internet. Other restrictions apply. For complete rules and restrictions, see the terms and conditions below.

United States military men and women who are participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom also are welcome to be American's guests at Admirals Club facilities worldwide between flights when they are on emergency or Rest and Relaxation (R&R) leave from their overseas duties. This invitation for complimentary access has been extended through Dec. 31, 2004 at all airport locations that do not have USO facilities. Eligible military personnel in appropriate uniform need only present their emergency or R&R leave forms from Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom to access an Admirals Club location.

In addition, American is inviting uniformed military personnel to pre-board with First-Class passengers, or at any time during the boarding process. The boarding announcements were modified in February and American plans to continue this service as a thank you to U.S. troops.

Whether traveling near or far, customers on American will find exceptional service both on the ground and in the air. In addition, First- or Business-Class seating is available throughout American's fleet, while "More Room Throughout Coach" seating, which provides additional legroom between rows, is offered on the majority of its aircraft. Also available on most of the fleet are large overhead storage bins that allow carry-on luggage to be stored "wheels first," creating more overall storage space and making it easier to stow and remove bags.

*Terms and Conditions
Fares shown are in USD, are each way based on round-trip purchase for Economy Class travel, and are non-refundable/non-transferable. Fares do not include (a) a federal excise tax of $3.10 per U.S. domestic flight segment of a passenger's itinerary: a flight segment is defined as one takeoff and landing; (b) up to $18 per round trip in local airport charges; and (c) September 11th Security Fee of $2.50 per enplanement originating at a U.S. airport, up to $5 per one way or $10 per round trip.

The discount military fares are available for travel through Jan. 31, 2005. Advance purchase requirements do not apply, but ticketing must occur within seven days after the reservation is made. Sale fares require a Saturday night stay and a 30-day maximum stay restriction applies. Fares are available for travel every day of the week. Fares are available to all locations served by American Airlines, American Eagle and AmericanConnection. Fares do not apply to flights on any oneworld member airline or other codeshare flights.

A portion or all travel booked on American Airlines may be operated by American Eagle or AmericanConnection, regional airline associates of American Airlines. AmericanConnection service is operated by one of the following independent contractors: Trans States Airlines, Inc., Chautauqua Airlines, Inc. or Corporate Airlines, Inc. American Airlines, American Eagle, AmericanConnection, AAdvantage, AA.com and AmericanAirlines Vacations are marks of American Airlines, Inc.

Seats are limited. Fares may not be available on all flights or in all markets and are subject to change without notice. Passengers may change their ticket if the reservation is canceled before the original departure time and the passenger meets the restrictions of the new fare. Tickets must be issued and travel must be completed within one year of ticket issuance.

American Airlines is the world's largest carrier. American, American Eagle and the AmericanConnection regional carriers serve more than 250 cities in over 40 countries with nearly 4,200 daily flights. The combined network fleet numbers more than 1,000 aircraft. American's award-winning Web site, AA.com, provides users with easy access to check and book fares, plus personalized news, information and travel offers. American Airlines is a founding member of the oneworld Alliance, which brings together some of the best and biggest names in the airline business, enabling them to offer their customers more services and benefits than any airline can provide on its own. Together, its members serve more than 575 destinations in 135 countries.
