State Veteran's Benefits Directory
Many states offer veterans benefits. These benefits may include educational grants and scholarships, special exemptions or discounts on fees and taxes, home loans, veteran's homes, free hunting and fishing privileges, and more.
Each state manages its own benefit programs. The following is a list of links to the websites for each of the individual states that offer veterans benefits. Be sure to take advantage of the benefits you have earned by clicking on the link to your State Department of Veterans Affairs: http://www.military.com/Resources/Re...,59476,00.html |

Re: State Veteran's Benefits Directory
The county I live in has a Veterans Affairs Officer, but you never hear anything from her. The guy we had for many years was a Veteran and was pretty active. That is a job that I would love to have.

Re: State Veteran's Benefits Directory
66MP1 same here. As you can tell the post was put up so Veterans are aware of the benefits their own state provides. There are some states like New Jersey, Florida and others who if you are 100% VA disabled pay no realestate tax, other states provide various discounts for say, serving in a (a) combat zone ( CIB) (b) combat wounded ( Purple Heart ) and also for various (C )percentages of disability. In NYS for instance, I receive a discount on my realestate taxes for a,b,c above.
It is good for Veterans young and old to know what they are entitled to. Here at least my Purple Heart Chapter is very on top of this and we attempt to make sure all Veterans recieve what they are supposed to. Amd we worl very close with our DAV office. In fact once a year and this Dec. 5th we bring food and drinks ( soft ) up to the local DAV office for a Christmas party to thank them for their help over the years. It is so important to reach back and thank people. |

Re: State Veteran's Benefits Directory
Mike, I am glad that your group is really doing something for the vets. It seems that here nobody is really wanting to do anything, at least not that I know of. I think that a County Veterans Service Officer should be a Veteran. If that job comes open, I am going to apply for it.
