I Infantrymen03 Guidelines for creating voting polls

A few members have asked for some guidelines to be posted on setting up polls. To create a poll question, click on ‘new topic’ and complete the title and main text fields. You may want to insert a link here to the source article if you’re basing your poll on a specific news event.

Once you’ve completed this section, scroll down to the ‘additional options’ selections and check the ‘post a poll’ box. Enter the number of poll options (e.g. If you want to include ‘yes, no, other’, then enter 3 options). You can then either preview your post or click on submit thread. Ensure you have selected the poll option first before clicking on the ‘submit thread’ button otherwise you'll be unable to set up the poll.

You will now be taken to the poll section field where you will need to add the poll question and options. Once completed, you can first preview your poll and then click on ‘submit poll’. You may want to be careful in the poll "miscellaneous options" section that you don’t make the votes public as this will display all users who voted and their choices. If you do select this option be aware that you may not get as many responses as some members prefer to vote anonymously.

If you have any further questions or problems creating a poll, feel free to PM one of the moderating staff who will be happy to help.

Also a few more guidelines to be aware of when posting in the Voting Booth:

As this forum has been set up for voting polls please avoid creating two threads asking members to vote in one and discuss in another. You can ask a poll question and encourage discussion in the same thread. Also before posting, check that the same poll question hasn't already been asked. You can use the ‘search this forum’ function to see if a similar poll has already been submitted.

Finally, we all have our opinions but let's be respectful towards others regardless of how much you disagree with that person's view. There's a way of debating an issue intelligently without resorting to personal attacks and if moderators feel you have crossed the line, your comments may be edited or the poll closed. Thanks

-Chief Muppet
